DRIVING
1. Collision / losing control of the
vehicle
All drivers will be trained and assessed to be competent according to the
Stubbers procedures.
Drive with extra consideration and courtesy for other road users.
When reversing to hitch up a trailer, do not allow an assistant to stand between
the vehicle and the trailer. It is the driver's legal responsibility to ensure any trailer
is connected up and the load secured.
The driver should not be responsible for supervision of young passengers while
driving on public roads. Another responsible person should be embarked for this
purpose.
Drive with extra anticipation of potential hazards:
Snow, ice or floods.
Fast oncoming vehicles around corners.
2. Entrapment is a disabled vehicle On public roads all passengers will wear seatbelts where fitted.
Do not lock any doors whilst passengers are being carried.
3.Falling out of the vehicle Check all the doors are closed securely, taking particular note of the back doors.
4.Vehicle failure Driver to check vehicle for serviceability prior to use and recorded in the vehicles
log book (oil, water level, tyres, general condition)
Report in writing any faults or accidental damage using the Centre's reporting
system.
Special considerations apply to parking the vehicle in winter, e.g., ensure lights
out, engine away from wind if possible, gear engaged, and in freezing conditions,
leave the handbrake off.
