2. Equipment Fatigue Fatality Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and towers elements are to be visually
checked by the instructors each morning and recorded. PPE and hardware is
subject to a monthly recorded inspection by Staff. Towers checked and recorded
monthly by staff, annually by contract surveyor.

PRESENT CONTROL METHODS LIKELIHOOD RISK
1. Height Fatality When moving off the ground above 1.5 metres clients will be attached to a safety
rope with regular back up knots deployed into dead rope.
The instructor will lower climber to the ground unless on a NICAS/GCSE
programme, in which instance the client must be deemed confident and
competent to lower under direct supervision of the instructor.
Instructors will closely supervise belaying by participants.
Helmets and harnesses will be correctly fitted and worn by all members of the
group and members of staff at all times within the confines of Towers activity
areas.
Instructors must not leave a group unattended in the Tower.
